TV to Talk About

There was more on Gossip Girl to talk about last night than the threesome between Dan, Vanessa, and Olivia (Hilary Duff). The episode also had some music to talk about!

Who knew T.I.'s sex talk in "Whatever You Like" could sound so beautiful? Or that someone would follow Meredith Brooks' lead and make a song about being a bitch? Or that Leighton Meester "the singer" was the complete opposite of Blair? And was that a Santigold at the end?

Check out--- Anya Marina's cover of T.I.'s "Whatever You Like," "Bitch" by the Plastiscines, "Somebody to Love," by Leighton Meester feat. Robin Thicke, and "Saga" by Basement Jaxx feat. Santigold--- below!

The Tim Burton You've Never Seen

A new exhibit is kicking off this month at the Museum of Modern Art in New York featuring never seen before work from director, writer, artist, and film producer Tim Burton, most known for films like "The Nightmare Before Christmas," "Edward Scissorhands," and "Batman."

The exhibit features over 700 pieces-drawings, paintings and films- done over the span of Burton's career, some dating before fame. The gallery exhibit is titled simply "Tim Burton," and the film exhibition is titled "Tim Burton and the Lurid Beauty of Monsters." Burton has always found excitement in the unusual, and has used that to create the fantasies worlds in his films.

Tim Burton himself will be at MoMA for a book signing on the 18th of the month, and he will introduce the screening of his film "Pee Wee's Big Adventure," which will kick off the tribute showing of his films at the museum throughout November.

The exhibit ends in April 2010. Tim Burton's newest film "Alice in Wonderland" is also set to hit theatres in 2010.

For more information about the exhibit, check out the MoMA website.

Socializing with Saints

Tegan and Sara announced on their website the release of their new album, Sainthood Social last week on October 27. This is the 6th album from the sisters, and it explores faith and love, something which both of them have grappled with in their lives, even with each other. For their past albums, most of the writing was done separately, as the two of them live on opposite sides of the country.

Sainthood
was an opportunity for the two sisters to write the album together side by side the way nature intended. The album is described as electro-pop, with that 80's feel that has been creeping up in music lately. Whether you're a die hard T and S fan, or a sporadic listener, this album is sure not to disappoint. Be on the look out for Tegan and Sara in a city near you! A tour is on the way...

Check out the video "Hell" from Sainthood Social

Carlos Falchi at Target

Another legendary designer is bringing their talent to a Target near you. Carlos Falchi, known for his beautiful thousand dollar handbags, is bringing luxury to the masses. Falchi's bags are widely popular with celebrities, and have been featured in many movies, most notably Sex and the City. Carrie probably ate bread for a week to be able to afford a $2,000+ Falchi bag. If only she'd known that yesterday she would be able to talk into Target and purchase one for less than a tenth of the price.

Falchi is a purse guru, having been in the business for nearly 37 years, with his use of luxe leathers, exotic fabrics and unconventional silhouettes. His Target line will mimic his design style with faux leather, eye-catching colors, textures, and styles. Go to Target and feast your eyes on handbag beauty, and get your hands on one of these prized pieces.

Prices range from $19.99 to 49.99

We Were Once a Fairytale: Kanye West

There's been a lot of talk about Kanye West's mini movie, "We Were Once a Fairytale," directed by Spike Jonze, who recently did "Where The Wild Things Are." Jonze also directed the video for West's "Flashing Lights" video. The movie was leaked online last week and posted to West's blog, only to be pulled because production wasn't quite finished.

The video shows a pitiful and inebriated West making a fool of himself in front of anyone who will listen, where he stumbles off alone to the bathroom and spews rose petals in the toilet.

The movie takes a turn after a sick and sad West is lying on the floor of the bathroom, and finds a knife to seppuku himself. Seppuku is a form of Japanese ritual suicide. Unlike the rest of humanity, West bleeds rose petals. The ending is a bit odd. West pulls a hamster-like creature (termed West's inner"beast") from his body and urges it to do the same...

The mini movie is an interesting look at the creative side and raw side of Kanye West. Check it out below!

Can Chris Brown Transform Ya?

Last week was Rihanna, now it's Chris' turn to come back with the video for his first single, "I Can Transform Ya," following the legal and relationship battles.

Question is can he transform public opinion? Brown's video premiered on MTV Jams, rather than MTV, and his video definitely received less buzz than videos past. Rihanna's new song released last week hit the web like wildfire, while Brown's flickered in the wind.

The video takes on a "Transformers" theme, most of the action occurring in front of a white background. Perhaps he is returning to simpler things, or perhaps he wasn't able to pull out all the bells and whistles he could before he "transformed" Rihanna. The video features Lil' Wayne, Swizz Beats...and Tyrese makes a random cameo at the end. Can Chris Brown transform you? Check out the video yourself.

Art For All!

Lines for the the Guggenheim today are probably going to be pretty long! In honor of the Guggenheim's 50th anniversary, the museum is celebrating today by waiving the $18 fee for entrance! For one day, anyone and everyone can enter the Frank Lloyd Wright designed art realm. New York Art connoisseurs, ordinary folk, that homeless guy from 5th Avenue...Come one, come all!

The Wait is Ova!

The wait is finally over for a new track from Rihanna after the Chris Brown turmoil. It will be interesting to see the types of themes Rihanna will have in her up coming album, "R-Rated," that is supposed to drop November 23rd. The new album is supposed to be packed with some top notch collaborations with Justin Timberlake, Kanye West and Neyo.

Rihanna's newest song, "Russian Roulette," (written and produced by Neyo) was just leaked to the internet today, and amfm has it here for your listening pleasure. It's a slower song-It's definitely not a dance anthem, which Rihanna is known for. But, it's still a good song if you're in the mood for something slow...It's odd that this would be the first song, and not something catchier to get the fans pumped. Sadly we will all have to wait a little bit more to get the entire album.

Desert Flower

Ethiopian Supermodel, Liya Kebede, can be seen in the film Desert Flower. The film was adapted from the book, and is the autobiography of Waris Dirie, a Somolian nomad turned supermodel, turned social reformist against female genital mutiliation- a common practice and problem in Africa's Somolia.

The film also stars Happy-Go-Lucky's Sally Hawkins. It hasn't been released in the States yet, but is set to come in the near future.

May the Fierce Be With You

Christian Siriano has many titles under his belt aside from designer extraordinaire: the fiercest man alive, the youngest winner of Project Runway History (and perhaps the most talented yet...), and the next Marc Jacobs according to Tim Gunn.

He can now add three more things to his list. He's got a line of shoes and goodies at Payless, he's currently traveling around promoting his new memoir/inspiration book, Fierce Style: How to Be Your Most Fabulous Self, and he just got a deal with Bravo for a TV show.

Nothing but fabulous, and more in the making!

Let's Play Hockey!

Hockey, a budding band from Portland, Oregon released their debut album, Mind Chaos last month, and has been recieving a lot of buzz lately. They sound a bit like a modern version of The Strokes. It's happy music! They just performed their song "Too Fake" on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. And yes, you might have heard that song on a JCPenny commercial too...

In case you were wondering for yourself, here's the song and another song from the album, "Song Away."

Metric on the Mind

In case you did too...here's some Metric to get you through the day. Surprised there isn't a video for "Help I'm Alive." Definitely cannot wait for a "Satellite Mind" video, hopefully there is one! The last clip is from their documentary, and focuses on the softer side of the goddess of Metric, Emily Haines.

Out With The Old, In With The New

This past Spring, bright and bold colors were all the rage for fashion; however, the upcoming fashion trends for 2010, as seen on the runways these past two weeks, are more muted and subtle.

The colors are earthier and richer than the neon hues that were inspired by the resurrection of the 80's. If you go out with those bright colored pants, or extreme colorful make-up you will stick out like a sore thumb- probably not the kind of bold you were looking for...

Spring fashion is asking you to go Au naturale, with a very clean look, especially for make-up- say goodbye to the vibrant eyeshadows and sparkle, and go nude. Stick to brown eyeshadows rather than black and smokey, and go for that barely there look...Natural beauty shines brighter!

The London Look

London, one of the world's top fashion hubs, is celebrating its 25th Anniversary with London Fashion Week with glitz and glamour. Coming off the high of New York Fashion week, fashion gurus like Vogue's Anna Wintor, Harper's Bazaar's Glenda Bailey and Victoria Beckham, have headed overseas to get the London Look. They have taken some fashion followers with them like, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Harry Potter's Emma Watson -no strangers to the London scene.

One of the most talked about shows has definitely been the Burberry Spring/Summer 2010 line. Burberry's upcoming line stays true to their signature military touches, with an added richness, like satin chiffon and cashmere. The show stood out with subtle pops of color, including pale pastels, and a slight army homage- thanks to Christopher Bailey, the man responsible for making Burberry luxuriously London.

Thom Yorke Takes On Mulcahy and New Moons

Thom Yorke's got a new single and video lurking in the music shadows, but we've got it right here! He's covering Mark Mulcahy's "All For The Best," for "Ciao My Shining Star: The Songs of Mark Mulcahy." The song sounds distinctly different from the original version once Yorke adds his own "Eraser" flavor to the mix- with a little dash of brotherly love. The song also features Andy Yorke, Thom's younger brother.

Yorke also added a bit of himself to the Twilight Saga's New Moon Soundtrack, which was announced yesterday on Stephanie Meyer's website. Yorke's "Hearing Damage" was made specifically for the film. The soundtrack is packed with great artists like Muse, Death Cab, The Killers, OK GO, Lykke Li, Bon Iver, and Grizzly Bear to name a few...TwiFreaks can get the album on October 20th, a month before the movie's official release date! All the rest of you can check it out simply for the good tunes from bands we already knew about before the movie came out...

In honor of Death Cab front man, Ben Gibbard, and Zooey Deschanel's recent indie nuptials, here's "Meet Me On The Equinox," the Death Cab contribution to the anticipated New Moon Soundtrack.

One of these things is not like the other...

Madonna collaborating with Lil' Wayne?? That's a first. Lil' Wayne sure does get around on the collabo circuit, but then again, so does Madonna. They've been working on the single, "Revolver" for quite sometime and now it's finally available for a listen. Madonna seems to have been taking a few lessons from Britney- the song sounds like it could be a Britney-Wayne song.

Madonna has been reinventing herself for decades, and Lil' Wayne is at the top of his game right now so it's easy to see why she chose to work with the hip hop mogul, and who wouldn't want to work with Madonna? She's pop royalty...question is, does the song measure up to the prestige of its makers? You can listen to the track here and decide for yourself...

Album Alert: Weezer

Weezer's got a new album coming out October 27th, so all you Weezer fans take a holiday, sit back and listen, hash pipe in hand... Their last album, The Red Album revealed a different direction than the popular Green Album and their debut album. Their newest album " Ratitude," is a representation of the times we live in, where mainstream seems to be monopolizing music. (Although we are excited to hear their mash-up of MGMT's Kids and Lady Gaga's Poker Face) Check out the track list for the new album yourself, and remember not to judge a song by it's title...you can judge it later on October 27th.

Raditude
1. “(If You’re Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To”
2. “I’m Your Daddy”
3. “The Girl Got Hot”
4. “Can’t Stop Partying”

6. “Trippin’ Down The Freeway”

A Chris Comeback with a side of Cocky

Chris brown tweeted about his upcoming album "Graffiti" this week calling it his best album yet. "Graffiti!!! Comin Soon...Just finished it...hands down...My best album...That's all imma give away right now. I honestly don't think the game is ready for the recordz comin off the new album...(not tryna be cocky)!!! LOL," he tweeted. Question is, will anyone buy it? Sadly this "great" album comes after the beatdown heard around the world, which definitely will hinder his sales. But all that talent can't go to waste. Sometimes when you hear Chris Brown your body can't help but move, even if you tell it no...

Duff Does DKNY

Just in case you were wondering what happened to Hilary Duff, she's been hard at work on her FEMME line for DKNY. Her line infuses hard and soft- she's got leather bomber jackets, scarves, jeans and more. Fashionistas don't have to break their bank accounts either to become a femme fatale-most of the items are reasonably priced. Some items are as low as $40, and others are a bit pricier and over $100. You can check out the mini-series of the line, yes we mean mini-series. It's called "The Chase" and there are 7 chapters. You can check out The Final Chapter below. And here is the official FEMME DKNY website

Blossoming in Elle

Kanye Wests' video vixen gf, Amber Rose, got a few styling tips from her main man. Kanye, known for his fashion sense, and risks, styled the shoot for the lovely Rose. The shoot was very hush-hush, but now everything is out in the open-and we mean everything. She, and her butt cheeks, will be featured in the October issue of Elle Magazine. Has Elle ever done anything this risque before? The next issue may just very well cause a man fight by the magazine racks...especially with one particular thong-a-licious picture.

Check out Amber Rose in the Ludacris, Chris Brown and S&G video "I Know What Them Girls Like"

Heads Rollin All Over The Place

Another great video from YYY, minus the creepy werewolf MJ wannabe! Wonder who the mastermind behind it was...Too bad we didn't get there first! Karen O would have been a great Queen of Hearts singing "Off Off Off With Your Head!" Alice would have died dancing...and so will we.

Gossip Girl Here:

They're baaack...The whispers are over, and gossip is in full effect. Gossip Girl returned for its season 3 premiere Monday. The kids came back from summer vacay looking all polished and preen. Chuck and Blair are ever so in love, Serena is still a little starlet with a sprinkle of slut, Dan is still obsessed with playing Serena's hero, Nate is well-Nate, and Vanessa just so happens to be dating Dan's somewhat creepy long lost brother with an unknown motive...What will the season unfold?

One thing we do know is this season is sure to be saturated with commercials for Target's new Gossip Girl inspired Anna Sui line. You can now tap into your inner Serena, Blair, Vanessa or Jenny. Now all there is to do is figure out which gossip girl you identify with the most. Our apologies to those of you who identify with Serena and don't like being called a starlet sprinkle slut...

You know you love me...
XOXO

Ego Trippin

Newsflash! This just in: Kanye West has fallen and he cannot get up, I repeat Kanye West has fallen and he can't get up...He has suffered a major blow to his head. He's just tripped over his own ego. Authorities say the damage isn't detrimental, but it will take awhile to heal. Taylor Swift on the the other hand, is recovering quite swiftly...

MTV's Video Music Awards 2009 will be forever remembered to Taylor Swift as the day Kanye West stole her thunder. Speechless and a bit confused, Swift was holding her her first moon man and in the midst of her speech, when West took the mic from her hands and went on another one of his rants. "Yo Taylor, I'm really happy for you, I'm gonna let you finish," West began, "but Beyonce had one of the best videos of ALL TIME!" And then he repeated it...

Wait so...He was really happy for her...but then, he shat on her win...hmm that's an interesting way of saying congratulations.

The camera cut to Beyonce who appeared to be not expecting his defense. She looked appalled, and poor Taylor just looked like a sweet girl and a bully just came along and popped her balloon. Following West's outburst and exit, Taylor, deflated, had nothing left to say.

And in the end Beyonce did end up winning the Video of the Year Award, with her "best video of all time" thus making Kanye's outburst even more unwarranted! Beyonce showed off her halo by offering Swift her thunder and her moment in the spotlight that she deserved.

Kanye offered an apology Monday via his blog saying, "I feel like Ben Stiller in "Meet the Parents" when he messed up everything and Robert De Niro asked him to leave...That was Taylor's moment and I had no right in any way to take it from her. I am truly sorry."

Two thunders stolen in one night, pissed off celebs (especially Pink), and an ego trip...only on MTV...

Hand Me My Leather

Like Tori Amos says in her song "Leather,"plenty of people are saying "hand me my leather" this season. Leather is hot! Charlotte Ronson knows it...Not only is is warm, but it also looks good on. Lovely ladies like Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston are strapping on the leather and looking damn good!
